Looking for vegetarians to talk to
Hello, I am Katerina and I am Russian. I am a new vegetarian, only searching for information. Unfortunately I have more intuition than information. I've got a small girl who thinks that killing animals for food is immoral and I share her views. I could go without meat ok (anyways I didn't cook it for me before) but I care for her diet too. I would be happy to talk to vegetarians of great experience and get some information at least about books to read (yes, Russian would be great :)).
Best regards,
Katerina

Hi, Rajan. I have lived in India for some time, 10 years ago, and my daughter is half-Indian. I have never cut meat or fish in my life, I just bought them in shops, cooked, though I never liked that. I am really looking for some system now, I guess you are an expert about it. Would be happy to share information with you.

From a health stand point,
From a health stand point, it's difficult to be a well ballanced vegetarian. Your body is made of of proteins and a great bulk of protiens are in meat. It is extremely important for growing children to have a variety of protiens both meat and vegetables. You should consult a doctor who can give you a food list that will tell you nutritional values of the vegetables you eat and others you should include in your diet. I wish you the best in your venture.
Hi! Thank you so much for
Hi!
Thank you so much for your reply! I would definitely try to find a good doctor but I have moved for summer with my child to the Black Sea of Russia, away from my native polluted town where my daughter would get sick, and in this resort city it's impossible to get even good internet service, left alone reliable food. But I will keep on trying, maybe I'll get lucky with a doctor :)

Just saw your post. I have
Just saw your post. I have been vegetarian for 6 years, and I am very committed to it. I don't speak Russian, though my mother has lived in Russia recently and knows the language a little. I would like to encourage you in your vegetarianism. You may want to check out a book called May All Be Fed: Diet for a New World, by John Robbins. It may give you added understanding of the importance of living a vegetarian lifestyle, and hence greater motivation. Are you understanding this ok? Good luck, Greg
Well, it is not a problem
Well, it is not a problem avoiding meat, even in Russia. It IS difficult, I know, because Ilived in Moscow last year and for the first few months found it hatd. But, you know, there ARE many fruits and vegetables available, many protein-rich pulses, beans, and grains and you can make just about ANY non-meat version of a lot of the meat dishes. First is a use of imagination, but if you take a good look atthe products on offer at many supermarkets (sidmoi continent etc.) you will find some of the most delicious organic and natural foods available. And cheap too. LEt me know if you'd like specifics, recipes, etc, and places. i'm sure i can try and help you out. Remember, too, that any diet is about adventure, taste, and variety. Good luck, Suki MAman
